Paid users also gain a reasoning slider on web, mobile, and desktop platforms, allowing them to control how much processing the model applies to each request. These tests covered financial, medical, and legal questions demanding precise factual responses. OpenAI reported a roughly 62% decrease in answers containing at least one factual error with GPT-5.6 Luna compared to GPT-5.5 Instant. For GPT-5.6 Sol, the reduction was about 68% under the same testing conditions. Enhanced safety features added to models for younger users
The GPT-5.6 models incorporate new safeguards aimed at users under 18. These protections restrict responses involving romantic roleplay, age-restricted challenges, or claims that could foster unrealistic expectations about relationships. Additional limits apply to sexual content, eating disorders, dangerous activities, restricted items, and graphic violence.
